1. What am I allowed to bring with me to Sotterley for the JRock-n-Run?
Short Answer: Anything you want. The JRock-n-Run is going to be a high-energy combination of a Run/Walk, a community festival, and a LIVE CONCERT....all rolled into one. We want you to kick-back, relax, and have a wonderful time while listening to live music in a "river-concert-like" setting. We welcome and encourage you to bring things like LAWN CHAIRS, BLANKETS, PICNIC BASKETS, COOLERS, FRISBEES, ETC, ETC.....anything that will make your evening more enjoyable. You will be able to "set-up camp" on the beautiful lawns at Sotterley and watch all the action and listen to music. We will have VENDORS selling FOOD and BEVERAGES....but, you are welcome to bring your own stuff. And, YES, alcohol is allowed on the Sotterley Plantation grounds. So, if you want to bring a few "adult" beverages to enjoy while you are listening to great music....FEEL FREE (as long as you are 21-yrs or older, of course)

3. Can my group, organization, or business become a VENDOR at the JRock-n-Run?
YES. Food and Beverage VENDORS are welcome and encouraged....and you will get to keep ALL profits from your sales during the event. We want the JRock-n-Run to be a "win-win" for the community. Our event is a great opportunity for organizations from around the area to earn money for their OWN causes. Simply email Jordan's Dad and let me know what type of FOOD or BEVERAGE(s) you would like to sell. Keep in mind that there are certain licenses/certifications that the State requires in order to sell Food items at a public event. Please plan ahead in order to get the needed paperwork.

YES. Each band will have the opportunity to play for approximately 45-60 minutes. To date, our bands are:

5. What type of events can I expect at the JRock-n-Run?
You can expect the “JRock-n-Run” to be a high-energy combination of a Run/Walk, a community Festival, and a Live Concert……all rolled into one. The focus of our event is Personal Challenge and Personal Achievement. When people register, we encourage them to set a "Run-Time Goal" for themselves……something THEY will challenge themselves to achieve. During our post-race ceremony, we will recognize those individuals who reach (or beat) their run-time goals. THEY will be the true WINNERS of the “JRock-n-Run” and will be given a special souvenir to recognize their victory. Then, after the races…..we will enjoy great food, drinks, and live music while watching the kids chase fire-flies and play games in the cool Autumn breeze off the Patuxent River. Everyone will be invited to bring their chairs, blankets, Frisbees, picnic baskets, and coolers so as to enjoy an evening of fellowship and remembrance with the community while listening to great music.
6. How do I get event T-Shirts and other JRock-n-Run/TEAM JP gear?
Two ways: The primary way to get event T-shirts and other JRock-n-Run/TEAM JP gear is during the ONLINE registration process. When you register, you will receive a FREE event T-Shirt and you will be asked to enter your size preference. Additionally, during your registration, you will be able to purchase as many additional T-shirts (and sizes) as you like for just $10. The second way to get stuff is to purchase “leftovers” on race day. We will attempt to have T-shirts and Towels for sale at the event, but we can NOT guarantee quantities and sizes. So, please register ONLINE.
7. Can I bring my dog to walk or run with me?
Unfortunately, no. The Sotterley Plantation does not allow pets.
8. Are baby strollers/joggers allowed in the run or fun walk?
Absolutely Yes!!! We have crafted our entire event to be fun for the ENTIRE family. Anyone and everyone is invited and encouraged to participate. Remember: our focus is PERSONAL CHALLENGE and PERSONAL ACHIEVEMENT. If you reach (or beat) YOUR run-time goal….then YOU are the WINNER of the JRock-n-Run.
9. Will “same day” registration be available?

Also, we can NOT guarantee you a T-shirt if you wait until race day to register. Race day registration will be available from 9:00 a.m. to noon.
10. What if it rains on race day?
The JRock-n-Run will be held “Rain or Shine”.

16. What time should I arrive?
We encourage everyone to arrive early. Our venue at Sotterley Plantation opens at 8:00 a.m. Check-in and Race-Day Registration begins at 9:00 a.m. (although, if possible, we will check you in as soon as you arrive). Please arrive no later than noon to pick up your race packet.
17. Where do I park?
Parking is abundant. We will have plenty of JRock-n-Run Staff on-hand to help direct traffic. Carpooling is always a good idea if possible. Reducing the amount of traffic in and around the Sotterley Plantation will increase the efficiency and safety of the race.
18. Who developed your JRock-n-Run Logo and why does it have a guitar with wings?
Taylor Engdahl designed the JRock-n-Run logo. She was one of Jordan’s close friends. She wanted to capture the essence of his three primary passions: Running, Relationships, and Music. As a result, she designed what you now see on all of our race materials – His guitar, a music bar, “running” musical notes, and, of course, his Angel Wings. Taylor is a wonderful person and an exceptionally gifted artist -- we are so very grateful for her heartfelt efforts.
